Job Scam Alert!

As we are committed to finding job scams, here is another alert for job seekers to watch for.

Some of you may know Kelly Services or Kelly Temp Services. The original Kelly Services provides temp employment, permanent employment and many other various jobs. They have been in the industry for quite some time now. Lately there has been a lot of scammers utilizing these big corporate names and adding just a small twist to its name in order to lure you to their site. We know it’s so hard to really pinpoint these people but when we get these, our staffing makes sure to alert job seekers.

Here is another one that claims that they have openings, however a credit check is needed. They are called Kelly Staffing Services. They congratulate you on your hire and then request you to sign up for the credit report. You should never have to worry about doing a credit check yourself. Employers are responsible for providing that info along with providing you a copy (if requested) of your credit report and background check.

Watch for these emails:

Attention: NEW HIRE CANDIDATE - WAREHOUSE

Each employee's starting hourly wage will be based on his or her experience level, which will be determined once the recruiting process has been completed. Experience working in a warehouse setting is helpful, but not required, as paid training is provided.

  4. Here are a few things to watch for and how to take precautions:(and remember not all of them are like this)

    1. If you read the posting they description is too short.

    2. The reply to is to a free email account or anonymous.

    3. If they require you to retrieve a free credit report or banking information prior to hire(Most companies will do their own credit check such as through ADT as such and will pay for it on their own.

Its not easy to just spot these right off, so you want to make sure and do your home work once you hear back from the company.

Prevention: The ones that you feel are questionable, you can email them with an inquiry that you would like more information about this position or better yet, call the company to confirm that this is a legit position before sending them a resume. Legit employers will not have a problem and would be more than happy to assist.

Let's say you have already sent them a resume scenario: Its really not any different than you uploading your resume to Monster, Career builders, for everyone is looking at your resume and info. So make sure that you saavy up your resume to give only the information you dont mind others to see... If you have a PO Box for an address is great, or just note your email adress and cell number for contact. Its okay to be cautious rather than get yourself into a big crisis.

Hope that helps in your future search.

FYI: Also if your moving or thinking of rentals, be weary of the replies that indicate that they are the landlords and they are currently out of town so they need all this personal information about you before proceeding. We've been hearing alot about those as well.

We believe that link is legit. However to be on the safe side, you should contact them and confirm that position. Make sure to call the corporate office.

We encountered another email from Careerbuilders, which seemed like the real deal but unfortunately someone copied the careerbuilder logo as such to convince those that career builder was seeking their help. So be aware and always make sure to confirm it.

  8. Just one of these and found my way to this site through a Google search. This is a variance of a scam that I've been hit with before. Previously they were hawking Green-Dot. The domain of the email address redirects to the real Kelly site. The domain's owner is being masked by Private Whois.com, a major sleaze outfit. I'm an IT professional if you haven't already gather. I'm still hunting as far as I can.
